Rabies is a viral disease which attacks the nervous systems of some animals and also humans. Rabies is a fatal disease so prevention and treatment is necessary. Rabies is usually acquired when a rabies carrying animal bites another or when rabid saliva gets into the broken skin of another animal or humans.

A cat can acquire rabies and the cat rabies symptoms can manifest even in a matter of days to even weeks. It is necessary for the owner to be wary of the symptoms. The rabies symptoms which can be shown come in three stages of the disease.

During the first stage, the cat can show nervousness and anxiety. Apprehension, fever and even solitude are also other common symptoms of the first stage. This stage usually last for one or two days and cats have more erratic behavior than dogs.

The second stage of the rabies disease can manifest itself through symptoms like restlessness and irritability. Because of such, this stage is more commonly known as the furious stage where cats show signs of viciousness, irritability, and restlessness. Owners should be careful in sudden attacks of their pets as it can be a sign of rabies.

The third stage is characterized by paralysis and numbness. The throat and jaws are first affected, thus, bringing foaming at the mouth and locking of the jaws. Other body parts eventually get paralyzed, thus, leading to death.
