Rabies shot REACTION appear differently for different animals; but the most common known side effects seem to apply to dogs most of the time. It usually creates nervous moments on the part of the veterinarian, pet owner and the pet patient themselves. But over-all, rabies shots have no known major adverse REACTION to dogs that were injected with the vaccine.

But there are instances where dogs that were given rabies shots seem to have manifested numerous kinds of allergic REACTION. Although many people believe that rabies shots are safe, always bear in mind that vaccination of our beloved animals is still a medical procedure with risks that we should seriously consider before actually doing it.

It is true that vaccination is the most effective way of preventing our pets from having rabies. But, there are things that have to be considered before going through with the procedure. This is the reason why knowing the basic facts regarding when or when not to give the vaccine is very crucial.

Generally, puppies should get their rabies shots on the fourth month of life. Then get it again a year after. On the other hand, the following are the conditions where vaccination should not be given at all: 1) puppies that are below 4 months, 2) an animal that has a medical record of having adverse side effects to past vaccinations, 3) a sick animal, 4) and within a period of 3 to 4 weeks of having been given other kinds of shots or vaccines.

The REACTION to a rabies shot will not be known until it is actually given to the dog. Animals can’t decide for themselves. It is still us, their owners, who has the responsibility of making sure that our dogs are provided the best possible medical care available.
