How to Know the Symptoms of Dog Rabies

Every pet lover should give all the necessities of their pet dogs. These necessities, of course, include food, shelter, medical care, and lots of love. Dogs are known to be man’s best friend because of dog’s innate characteristics that make him friendly and loyal to man. Aside from providing these, every pet owner should also be aware of certain medical conditions that affect dogs. This includes rabies. Rabid dogs are easy to identify as long as the owner knows the symptoms of dog rabies.

Dog rabies can manifest itsaelf in many ways. If a dog acquires the rabid virus, usually from direct contact or bite from another rabid animal, then the owner must isolate the dog to protect humans. Yet, it is important that the owner can monitor the dog’s development as the rabid virus spreads. It is important to know the most common symptoms of dog rabies which every owner must be aware of.

Fever and lethargy in dogs can be seen as the first symptoms of dog rabies. Usually, the dog wants to be left alone and it also shows loss of appetite. The second stage manifests as the dog becomes seemingly mad as seizures and irregular muscle movement occur. The dog becomes restless as it also becomes disoriented and does not recognize its owners. The worst symptom is that the rabid dog becomes highly aggressive even to its owners. The last stage shows foaming at the dog’s mouth as jaws and throat are paralyzed which results to full body paralysis.
