Rabies is primarily a disease of animals and is caused by the attack of the rabies virus to the nervous system. Rabies can be passed on through direct contact such as bites and the direct contact of rabid saliva to broken or punctured skin. The rabies virus can be easily passed on in such conditions and prompt treatment should be made in case it enters the human body.

The rabies virus is usually from animals. The virus inhabits wild animals such as raccoons, foxes, bats, skunks, as well as domestic animals like dogs and cats.

The rabies virus attacks in such a way that it enters the body through skin punctures and breaks. An animal bite is a usual method how the virus enters the human body. The virus then works its way to the brain and the entire nervous system. Lastly, it attacks various organs of the body which eventually leads to the victim’s death.
